Kinsley & James's The Barn at Paradise Wedding

Updated: Sep 14, 2021

Being a part of Kinsley and James's big day at The Barn at Paradise in Paradise, Texas, was not only one of the funnest days, but it was also one of the sweetest days I have been lucky enough to witness. I truly believe that the reason their love is so strong and will stand firm through trials and tribulations to come is wholly due to the foundation it has been built on.

First looks are one of my favorite parts of most wedding days. Usually because it is one of the sweetest moments of the day. The groom gets to let down his walls to his new bride, show his true emotions, and they truly get to soak up the beginning of what will be one of the best days of their lives. This was the case for Kinsley and James, but it isn't the reason why their first look will forever hold a special place with me.

When James saw Kinsley, he was in awe, and the tears were flowing. I can't blame him -- she looked incredible. Next, the two opened their pre-written vow books, and together, they shared the promises they will keep for years to come. Multiple times throughout reading their vows, Kinsley said, "We aren't people that cry." Something about those moments together, alone, making heartfelt promises to one another rarely goes without tears. What happened next was something I am forever grateful to have captured. I am honored. Kinsley and James performed a feet washing ceremony, where each took turns washing the feet of the other, showing their love, humility, and that they will remain equal to one another throughout their lives. One will never hold the other to a higher standard than they hold themselves.

This moment was one of many moments throughout the day that showed their love of Christ, their faithfulness to Him, and their promise to one another. During the ceremony, Kinsley and James chose to take communion as their first act as husband and wife. I cannot think of a better way to spend your first minutes of marriage.

Kinsley and James -- thank you so much for allowing me into your day. Thank you for trusting me in your most vulnerable moments, for showing me the goodness of God's promises to us, for being fun, welcoming, and overall, a joyful presence in every room you enter. I can't wait to follow your journey through life. You are truly two amazing people, with an incredible love with God at the root of it.
